Compliments

p.s. Today a guy friend of mine told me that I have "nice lips. You'd be fun to kiss." I love little compliments like that.

Book Recommendation

I saw this book at the library, and figured I'd let you all know. It has charts showing the nutritional facts of food at restaurants and "ranks" foods from best to worst for you.

Restaurant Confidential: The Shocking Truth about What You're Really Eating When You're Eating Out

Dance Class + Hair + Food + Inspiration

Today in class, I got two compliments from my teacher. She said I was taking up space greatly during our moves and that my tendus were good. She also reminded me to keep my battements to the side turned out, as I tend to turn my kneecap forward rather than keeping it upwards. It feels so good to get her praise and attention.

Also, when I talked to her after class about how my group isn't feeling confident about our choreography for the final (which we had to create) since our group members are always absent, she set her hand on my shoulder and told me not to worry, that she knew we were working hard and looked great.

And my hair is in a bun! It's finally long enough (barely) to wear in a tight little bun, which makes me look so much more like a dancer. Especially as all of the "pulling up" we've been doing has me walking like that, lean and tall, everywhere I go. I had so many sideways glances at my hair, my bare legs, and my knee-high socks bunched around my ankles. I looked so good today.

I have been eating far too much in the past days. I feel disgusting, but I've been too stressed to have the willpower. But I have been trying to stick to low-calorie snacks. For example, a serving of pretzel sticks and a serving of port wine cheese (I never eat a full serving though, as that's a whole two tablespoons) is delicious and under 200 calories.

New Books!

Today, when my family visited, we went to a used bookstore and I picked up two ballet books. The Joffrey Ballet School's Ballet-Fit and Off Balance: The Real World of Ballet. I'm super excited for both of them.

Inspiration

More inspiration to inspire me to hit the gym today!

Eating Disorder Books

Here is a list of my favourite ed-related books.

Purge: Rehab Diaries
I am especially a fan of this book because the rehab clinic the author went to is in my area. While she doesn't name it, she does talk of sneaking away to places I've been to, which is very exciting, It's a very well-written book.

Stick Figure: A Diary of My Former Self
This book is literally the published diary that the author came across when she was an adult and found it tucked away in her childhood things. It gives a nice inside view of a young girl's struggle with anorexia.

The Truth About Life After Eating Disorders
This book, written by a woman who apparently also wrote a memoir about her eating disorder, refutes the myth I hate that an anorexic or bulimic can ever really be "cured."

The Best Little Girl in the World
This is not a memoir, but a great book about an anorexic ballerina. It was the first book I ever read about eating disorders.

Going Hungry: Writers on Desire, Self-Denial, and Overcoming Anorexia
A collection of essays, this book deals with a variety of topics on eating disorders. It's a great quick read.

Today's Plans

Not going to the gym. At least, not right now. Maybe later tonight. It's too beautiful and sunny out right now to do anything more than sit by my open window and listen to music.

May + Weight Gain + Inspiration

Happy May! That means that I have just over a month before my dance auditions. Oh no!

Also, I went to the gym for a bit yesterday evening and when I weighed myself, I was back up to 148.5 pounds! The bingeing the past couple of days hit me harder than I thought it would. But it's the weekend now, meaning lots of gym time. I'll have to work out extra long today, since I'm going out to eat with my family tomorrow, so I can't skip as much food. But today I've had some pasta, a couple chocolate-covered raisins, and am planning to only have an apple and some Sun Chips for supper.

Looks like Anne Hathaway!

This girl is so beautiful.

Gorgeous lean legs.

Beautiful delicate wrists.

Look at her tiny arms!
