Physical Therapy

I don't have anything else to say, so I figured I'd talk a bit about my couple of weeks in physical therapy, as a number of people and expressed an interest in my experiences in dance.

First, I went to the clinic on campus to find out what was wrong. The nurse poked and prodded and bent my foot, then sent me to the doctor who did the same. The doctor diagnosed me with tendonitis of my "left great toe," meaning the big toe of my left foot, and possible turf toe. She filled out a piece of paperwork, wrote "dance major" across it, and sent me to the Sports Medicine Department in our athletics facility/gym. I walked over there and set up an appointment for a couple days later.

I sat out of my ballet class that day, much to my teacher's chagrin. In fact, she looked at my doctor's note, which said that I shouldn't be dancing for 10 days, and scoffed.

When my appointment came, I went in and met with the man who runs the department. He did the same thing as the nurse and doctor, lots of "Does this hurt? How about this?" He confirmed the tendonitis and gave me tips on how to help it. He told me to ice it immediately after activity and use heating pads otherwise, unless my toe makes a creaking sound, then stop heat. I took some anti-inflammatories and he showed me how to tape my foot to keep my toe from bending back and aggravating the tendon.

More later!

Last Day of Classes

Today was my last day of classes. I'm going to miss the kids in my ballet class so much, but hopefully I'll be in ballet again with a couple of them next semester... at 8 in the morning. Ugh. But no more classes (and only one more exam and one more paper) means that I'll have more time to work out. dance auditions are in February, so I gotta be thin by then!

Updates:

-My toe is better.
-My jazz dance final went great.
-My ballet final (only a written exam on terminology) is today.
-My grandpa is dying, and has decided to cease medical treatment. We don't know how long he has left.
-My size 11 pants can now be taken off without unbuttoning or unzipping them.
-I'm planning on giving my Facebook URL to the guy at the bagel store so we can (hopefully) stay in touch since I won't be in there before class.
-I haven't been sleeping well lately.

Confession

Most thinspo makes me sad, because even if I lost tons of weight, I'd never be as pretty as the girls in the photos.

Food + Tendonitis

Guh. I've been doing nothing but eating the past few weeks. Nothing but sugar and chocolate over Thanksgiving break, and bowlful after bowlful of pasta since. I feel awful.

Also, the Monday before Thanksgiving, I talked to my jazz teacher after class because my toe had been bothering me. I thought maybe it was just stiff or I had pulled something, but she told me to go to a doctor because she feared it might be a stress fracture. The next day I went to the university clinic and the doctor diagnosed me with tendonitis in my toe.

So now I'm in physical therapy.

Pants

My size 11 pants, the smallest pants I own and the smallest size I've worn for years, are too big. Just a little, but even with my belt on the tightest notch, they're just big enough to be a bit uncomfortable.

Today! + Red Bracelets

You girls are gonna be so proud of me. I ate nothing today. Well, besides the Mountain Dew I had (280 calories) and a whole ton of cough drops (no nutrition facts, of course). But I'm feeling great! My plan for tomorrow (besides catching up on laundry) is to head to the uni gym for at least two hours and maybe hit up a dance class at the studio if there's anything interesting.

Edit: Even though I put it in the title, I forgot to talk about red bracelets. Can you tell I haven't been sleeping well? Anyway, I picked up a stein of red yarn yesterday and am making red knot bracelets. It's really fun. One of these days I'll start selling them on here (just for whatever you can give, and through PayPal) for some extra spending money.

Edit Number Two: Boyfriend just called. He wants to go get breakfast food at the 24-hour place by us. Guess I will be eating today, because he'd notice if I didn't. But I can burn it off tomorrow!
